Onkyo HT-RC260 vs. Denon AVR-591?

Hi,

I am looking for a Home Theater System with HDMI 1.4a (for 3D support) **and** Digital room correction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_room_correction) most probably Audyssey. After some research I have narrowed it down to two receivers:

Pricewise, they are the same. My question is two parts:
1) Is there any better receiver then these two for the same price point ($300-$350).
2) Which is better between the two.

Hi Hagar,

Even though Onkyo is 7.2, Denon systems are considered better quality and command higher premium. Another important difference between the two is that Onkyo uses Audyssey’s least sophisticated detection/correction hardware whereas Denon uses one notch higher (the standard inhome consumer line). I don’t know whether I would actually notice the difference though. I was hoping someone will comment on that.

is this watch a good deal? (swiss legend)?

I have the opportunity to buy a swiss legend men’s gmt ss watch for $75. Are Swiss legends top of the line watches? Where do they compare to TAG and ROLEX?? Also amazon, as well as several other sites, have the watch for $200, so i’m beginning ot think its not really 6 or $700…. im trying to figure out if I would be buying a $200 watch or a $500 watch.

Out of interest, I just researched a bit.
And while I wouldn’t trust a penny into such an investment, it’s certainly save to say that this brand is not on the same level as a TAG Heuer or Rolex.

Why?
First, it’s completely unknown in switzerland. So…what does the “swiss” in their name stand for then?

Now let’s have a look at their website which is remarkably simplistic (some would say cheaply made)

- again, the contact page leads you to Florida. So the “swiss” image seems just to be a marketing thing for them.
- No mention of an origin: No place, no people behind it. In the top Brands, there is always someone standing in with his name for his craft.
- History: 25 years of experience? Now that’s an impressive short time. Don’t get me wrong, there are some nice companies out there that are younger than 100 years, but they give reverence where they got the knowledge from or make themselves a name through innovation like DeWitt.
-Distribution: Maybe the most obvious sign of quality. A top of line watch must be certified therefore every single watchmaker has got his line of distribution and doesn’t sell over the internet. Otherwise you could order your watch in china right away.

Now, to be fair, they mention at least their movements, which seem to come from the swatch company.
So, being comparable to swatches the prize of 75$ would probably not be too exaggerated – depending how they are assembled around the movement.

I have looked on Amazon.co.uk, but can’t find the limited edition (the one with the black box with the frosted glass door).

I don’t think you will get that limited edition it might of be produced just for the USA. Play. Com have got the limited edition but without the glass door. HMV also have a box set but it’s not the limited edition. Friends: Complete Series 1-10: 30DVD: Box Set

agb7373: the box is the difference – the black box is a special collectors edition which has a frosted glass slide cover (look at the pics of them on Amazon). I’m pretty sure the DVDs are the same. Where can I get a custom-made wardrobe (UK)?

My new apartment has a large built-in wardrobe, but I’d like some extra space for my many, many clothes! There is a narrow alcove in the room, probably about 60-70cm wide and deep enough to hang clothing. At the moment it’s just wasted space!

I’ve tried IKEA, but all their ‘custom’ wardobes seem to be only 50cm or over 100cm wide. I’d like to fit a hanging rail and shelving in there and then a frosted glass door to hide it all away.

Does anyone know of any companies that will make built-in wardrobes to measure?

You can find a carpenter or go to Lowe’s or home depot or if you have a wood you in your area they do wood products to. I would check a few antique shops or yard sales or flea market to before I paid a carpenter.
